Ford Pickups, Chassis Cab Vehicles, Vans, & SUV's made after March of 1981 have a spring code on the Vehicle Certification label which is usually on the Driver's door or Driver's Door Jam. Referencing this code can be very helpful in identifying which spring the vehicle was built with. Here is a picture of a typical certification label with the spring code circled in red. In this example it is a 2 digit code "T7" with the front spring identified in the spring code table by the 1st digit "T" and the rear spring identified by the 2nd digit spring code "7". Spring codes may contain 2, 3, or 4 digits. . . - If 2 digits, the 1st character is the front code, the 2nd character is the rear code
- If 3 digits, the 1st character is the front code, the second character is ignored, the 3rd character is the rear code
- If 4 digits, the 1st character is ignored, the 2nd character is the front spring code, the 3rd character is ignored, & the 4th character is the rear spring code
Steps to use the code on this website to identify, price and order springs:- Locate and record the spring code by looking at the certification label on the driver's door or door jamb and using the above instructions to determine which digit represents the front or rear spring on the vehicle you are working with.
- Click on the appropriate subcategory in the Identify Ford Springs by Spring Code category.
- Click on the link in the table which associates with the code from the vehicle.
