For front spring upgrade on 1973-1987 Chevrolet & GMC 1/2 ton 4x4, 1973-1989 Chevrolet & GMC 3/4 ton 4x4, & 1973-1987 K5 Blazer & Jimmy.

     This kit will increase front spring capacity by 1000lb by putting an additional full taper extra leaf under the bottom leaf of each front spring.  An additional benefit is that the arch of the spring pack will be restored lifting the front at the fenderwell typically by 1 1/2" to 2" when added to old springs or 1" to 1 1/4" when added to new springs.  This an excellent solution for trucks with plows or winches on front or to restore lost height due to age of the front full taper leaf springs.  The kit will work with either 2leaf or 3 leaf OE style full taper springs.  Only full taper extra leaves specifically for this application and not regular leaf plate should be properly used to upgrade this spring type!

     Installation involves removing the rebound strap from the bottom leaf of the existing spring by drilling the rivet.  The u-bolts and center bolt are removed from the old spring.  With the vehicle supported by jack stands under the frame high enough to let the axle drop away from the spring a few inches, the extra leaf can be put under the existing spring pack and the center bolt installed through all leaves and new u-bolts installed and torqued. Reintall the rebound clip bolt,then proceed to do the same on the opposite side.  U-bolts must be retorqued after 50 miles.
